Saturn Direct: Learning healthy limits
Like the lines in the coloring books we were trained not to ink outside of, borders and parameters - a form of limitation and restriction - are often necessary or essential. Our bones can only bend a certain way for the rigid skeleton system to keeps us intact. Child safety caps protect from poisoning. Prison cells contain those who pose a risk to others. Not every Saturn restriction is a bad one. Inevitably the best ones come with some sort of necessary built-in clause that limits freedom.
As structuring Saturn moves direct once more in Cycle 11, or Aquarius, we are most likely to notice where more restrictions will allow us to roam more free (in much the same way that deadlines shape creative output). Do we need more Saturn discipline? A Guilding Plan? Self-assessment and personal accountability aid us now in shaping our futures with commitment and wise time-management.
Ironically, when we take away restrictions and limits, productivity is often lost. Too much freedom - the endless vacation - doesn’t always result in productivity.
On the flip side, Saturn moving forward in the 11th will now make plain where too much Saturnian structure and rigid restriction or repression is killing freedom and individuality. Social unrest and upheaval continues. At this time, our global family is seeking to reinforce the rights of people to be sovereign individuals: unique, not to be put in boxes or categorized whilst at the same time shouting for progressive names and labels that allow for such freedom of self-identification and expression. It seems we can’t have one without the other.
We cannot have freedom without some enforced structure and we cannot have a successful structure with too much unchecked freedom.
Social interaction would appear to be easier these days via apps, websites, online groups and forums and channels. Aquarius is, after all, the sign of technology; even its glyph makes the sign of the World Wide Web (WWW). But Saturn currently throws more caution into our connecting, more red-tape, more Fear of losing our uniqueness and being forced to conform, or else being ostracized for stepping too far outside of societal and cultural rules and ‘Norms’.
Reliable friendship is a key Concern for us all right now. Solid people who are tried and true - dependable and trustworthy. Saturn in Aquarius is a karmic challenge to both BE a solid friend as well as build and maintain solid friendships. Aquarius naturally connects with everyone, in a spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood but Saturn demands our networks are stable and serious. Fair-weather friends need not apply.
We’ve already looked at how Saturn In Aquarius spelled social (Aquarius) distancing (Saturn). Aquarius for all its desire to connect to larger groups of people, communities and collectives, can also be very detached, more observant than participatory. Are we too cool or cold? Is there room for a strengthening of our personal social circles and systems?
As Saturn moves forward these issues will become paramount. We are urged now to be rebels with a cause, not merely another spanner in society’s works, causing detrimental division and damage.
What are you using your freedom for? And can committing to a stronger, stable structure now lead you to a freer future?
