Solar Eclipse Cycle 8: What Lies Beneath
Partial Solar Eclipse - Oct 25th
Want to impress people with a ‘magical’ astrological prediction? Look for the eclipses and tell everyone “Prepare for wacky weather”. Like clockwork, around the days or weeks close to eclipses, there will inevitably be a major newsworthy story of a noticeable weather shift: earthquakes, volcanos, droughts, sudden winds, fire, floods.
This partial Solar Eclipse digs up the bones of demons we once laid to rest - like the skeletons that resurface in the Polgergeist movie, to haunt the family whose house was built upon an old cemetery - where only the headstones were moved whilst the bodies were left behind.
This theme is active for us all - that which we thought was buried, is dug up. For various reasons - karmic resolution or retribution, to reclaim some lost treasure laying in wait or to heal something that still casts a long shadow over us - to give it a proper funeral and burial. Sometimes we are meant to remember something, by revisiting and recovering it.
A Cycle 8 (Scorpio) Eclipse always seems to expose what lies beneath - something that is already happening in various parts of the world as rivers dry up leaving objects (and some bodies) exposed.
Buried treasure - or secrets - surfaces during a Cycle 8 Eclipse.
The Solar Eclipse in Scorpio is simply another "opportunity" to do some spiritual housekeeping - which inevitably means having our physical lives rearranged accordingly as we clean out the cobwebs, raise the dead spirits of our ancestral pain and pry open the locked trunks and blocked closets containing our secrets, shames or other assorted skeletons.
If you don't - someone else will. Life invades and violates us sometimes during these Eclipses. Or so it would seem. But the true message of a Solar Eclipse in Scorpio is to allow for the eclipsing of your sense of self, your confidence in yourself, or your acceptance of yourself, so that you may re-gain these very same things - your very sense of self, newfound confidence and a stronger acceptance of yourself, and the process that is your Life.
What is taken away is valued all the more.
That's how Eclipses work. They change the light, they affect the interplay of light and dark on the planet. The Sun within us doesn't want to be eclipsed. it wants to share the honor of our Bright Light, our Ego, our Inner Child. But when the light goes out (the unconscious/irrational moon blocks the conscious/rational Sun) we truly get to understand, acknowledge what it IS, when we're suddenly blinded by its brightness once again. We know the Light, through the Darkness.
Since the Solar Eclipse is in Scorpio, we can safely assume this means an Ego-Death of some form as the necessary step forward in our spiritual evolution. Since this is on the South Node, we may find angels from our past, or demons. There is buried treasure in the dark periods we have lived through, only revealed once the “lived THROUGH” part of the bargain is fulfilled. No cheating. No short cuts. A Solar/new moon eclipse on the south node suggests new seeds sprouting from the ashes of the old. However, the trap with the south node is ever present: That which offers to free us could equally be luring us towards further enslavement.
The South Node in Scorpio is, for everyone, a fixation on the Dark Side - we're seemingly Fighting it every which way we can. Not a day goes by without something being dredged up from the shadowlands. And when things are calm, we only consider it the calm before the storm. The Scorpio South Node is a never ending pit of potential vipers ready to strike. Just as Angels often come disguised, but so too do the Demons.
This Eclipse is ruled (and squared) by Pluto in Capricorn, the steely one reminding us that Time reveals all because nothing stands up to time. Capricorn/Saturn is his own Grim Reaper - only he measures it, he doesn't rape us of it, like Pluto. Saturn Angels are the life experiences disguised as painful barriers and hurdles. They test you. They wear you down to see what you're made of. They feel like a hangover. They leave lasting impressions and you get to say I MADE IT and no one can take that from you. Saturn demons are the feelings of failure and quitting under the heavy load of the same painful barriers and hurdles. Either you push on or you give up. Sink or Swim. Saturn demons like to drag you under.
Pluto Angels are the ones who show you that you don’t need that which you cling to. That you are bigger and stronger and more powerful than any attachment. You learn this, by bigger and stronger and more powerful forces that takes these away. People have survived nightmares like the Holocaust. People have come back from the brink of death or narrowly missed it.
We have records of the human spirit flourishing through even the darkest of times.
The meeting of the Sun and Moon heralds a potential deepening commitment to walk through the Spiritual Death Detector: anything that is unnecessary for the road ahead from this point on (a job, a relationship, an attachment, a person, a situation) could leave us, as the cosmos reminds us that leaves fall off trees each year to make way for the seeds that will become next year's blossom.
Change has a purpose. And you're ready for it. And it involves reclaiming your power, by letting go of fear-holds that keep you prisoner.
Program yourself with this solitary message: I CAN AND WILL SURVIVE THIS THROUGH INVISIBLE POWERS.
Anticipate some final farewells. Goodbyes are inevitable during true change. Scorpio, for all its rigidity, is a Fixed Sign, that actually thrives on change - like the other fixed signs: [Aquarius for social change, Leo for the Creative birthing changes and Taurus, which seeks the change of growth, through sustained efforts and building].
People can change. People are changing. Because lives are changing. Daily.
And we change with our circumstances, purified by the fires that threatened to consume us.
Venus is conjunct this Eclipse suggesting we turn to face our prior trauma and embrace it with Love. For within it, contains superhuman seeds of highly evolved survival instincts, sharpened awareness, depth of being and a more purified sense of self. Trauma-bonds are not all bad - we often bond with others and forge alliances during the toughest of times. Just as every comic book hero gained unfathomable powers due to some intrinsic trauma they faced, we have all faced trauma and turmoil. We are just each at various stages of it’s healing.
Under this Eclipse, and in the months ahead, may we all turn our PTSD into an RSVP to celebrate our survival - by a departure from doubt and darkness, and a return to the light of living.
Much may have been lost, but You are still here.
Make it Count.
